Hustai National Park (HNP) is located 70 km west of Ulaanbaatar, Tuv aimag’s Altanbulag, Argalant and Bayankhangai sum’s land. HNP located between 105’40-106-37 east longitude and 47’35-47’52 north latitude.
Hustai nuruu belongs to Mongol Dagur’s vegetation region and has unique landscapes like forest steppe and hills. The elevation of HNP ranges between 1190-1800 m above sea level and its highest point is Hustai Khan’s Khushoot peak (1800) m above sea level and lowest point is Tariat spring (1190 m).
HNP’s annual mean precipitation is 136,3-143,7 mm.
Over 450 species of vascular plants belong to 214 genera and 65 families grown in HNP.
Hustai nuruu has good vegetation and has several springs and its landscape has birch forest, rocks which are suitable for many wild animals. In HNP, there are about 55 species of mammals including red deer, roe deer, wild boar, white tailed gazelle, Przewalski horse, argali sheep, marmot, Eurasian badger, grey wolf, fox, manul cat and lynx. Besides, there are 223 species of birds such as demoiselle crane, cinereous vulture, black stork, great bustard, saker falcon, steppe eagle, spotted woodpecker etc. And researchers recorded over 400 species of insects in HNP.
